Dye lot is the shade of color. Fabric is dyed to a specific color. This color is a mix of ingredients that is applied to the fabric to obtain that color, sort of like purchasing custom paint at the Home Depot. Each time the color is mixed a slightly different shade may result. This is not intended, but just the way it is since it is a semi-manual process.
Swatch samples for specific fabrics and colors may be ordered for Lori Allen bridal gowns for a small charge. Search the store for the product codes
FYI: Dye lots can vary slightly from the swatch to the actual dress when manufactured.

IMPORTANT: Be sure you use our Size Assist AI assistant to determine a size for a Lori Allen bridal gown. Our staff will reach out to confirm your size once the order is placed. Do not simply select your normal dress size. We really want to obtain you the correct size.
Bridal Gown and street clothes sizes do not compare and usually run smaller.
Also know Gowns are made to match the Size Chart not your measurements. Most ofter the gown will require slight alterations to fit perfectly.
Measure carefully. Review this “How to measure” video for sizing explanations.
It is important that you measure properly. We can help guide you in this area, but we cannot choose the size for you. Proper fit is subjective and individual - one person may like a dress tighter than another. You will need to choose the size you feel most comfortable with, given your measurements and fit preferences. Remember, when choosing a size for a two-piece or separates, the waist and hip measurements need to be considered along with your bust, as tops are fitted through those areas as well. Remember also, every designer has their own size chart.
Sizes usually cannot be changed on a order once it has been placed. The final choice for size is yours. The information provided is intended to help you make the best choice.
If you require assistance in determining your size, we are happy to help. You can email netsales@bridalsbylori.com, however, when we give advice on sizing, we are basing it on the information you’ve provided – since we are not taking the measurements ourselves, we have to assume that the measurements provided are correct, and that is what we are basing our recommendations upon.
Measuring tips: The best way to get accurate measurements and find the best fit is to enlist a rprofessional seamstressto help you. Measure your bust at the fullest part with your arms down by your side. Then measure your waist at its smallest part. Remember gown measurements are at your natural waist, not necessarily where your jeans sit. You should measure your hips around their fullest part. View our Measuring Guide
Bust: Measure the bust at the widest part of the back, straight across the top of the bust, NOT under the bust line. The type of bra worn, or whether one is worn at all, can make a difference. Do NOT use your bra/cup size.
Waist: Measure at your natural waistline. Holding your stomach in would be a mistake, as would create a skin-tight measurement. Leave a finger's width under the tape so it can move.
Hips: Measure at the largest part of the hips (this is generally about 8” down from your natural waistline). The tips of your fingers should be the area to measure when you rest your hands on your hips and put your thumbs at your natural waist. Only in the case of a straight skirt, slim-a-line or when the hip is several sizes larger than the other measurements will a hip measurement be necessary to determine size.
Height: Top of your head to the floow while you stand stright barefoot.
Heel Height: The number of inches of heel height of the shoes you will wear with gown.
Hollow to Hem: Hollow to hem is the frontal measurement from the bottom of your neck (the indentation between your collar bones) to the hem. When measuring, make sure you are wearing all of your undergarments, including any extra slips or crinoline. You should also be wearing shoes with a heel height similar to the ones you will wear with your wedding dress.
Hollow to Waist: This is the measurement from the hollow of your neck to your natural waist line.
When comparing your personal measurements to the manufacturers size chart please remember to pick the size that will fit your largest measurement.
When in doubt go up a size. It is much easier to take up a gown that is too large than to let it out when too small. Most manufacturers do not provide any extra fabric in the seams.
Most bridesmaid full length dresses offer extra length. Most factories suggest that you should consider ordering extra length if you are 5'8" or taller with shoes on. Other factors are heel of shoe, hem height off floor, etc.
Extra length is usually an additional 3" of fabric added to the dress. You will need to hem the dress to length desired in almost every case. Remember - if you are not sure, it's better to have too much length and be able to shorten than to have a dress that's too short and can't be let out. Extra length charges will vary by designer.
Most manufacturers charge an additional fee for dresses size 18 and up, often referred to as Plus Sizes. Plus size charges will vary by manufacturer are automatically calculated when the size is selected for an item.
When ordering separates all 3 measurements (bust, waist, and hips) must still be performed to determine the proper size.
Gowns are manufactured to the measurements within the size chart. The standard measurements of gowns do not properly fit most women. As a result the majority of gowns must be custom fitted to your body to receive the ideal fit.
Please be aware that sizing is not an exact science and custom fitting by an experienced seamstress will almost always be necessary for a proper fit.
Gowns purchased online from bridalsbylori.com are eligible for in-store custom fittings. However, we will recommend local tailors. Please email your request to netsales@bridalsbylori.com
