Shopping Tips

Set a budget!

Set a budget!

Everyone has their limitations when it comes to their budget. That’s okay! Figure out a number that is inline with your financial situation. We know there will be beautiful gowns in all price ranges, make sure not to try on dresses that are above your budget. We certainly don’t want our brides to fall in love with something that is beyond their means. The dress is just the beginning of it. There are charges to consider: Taxes, Modifications, Shipping, Rush Fees etc. So, choose a gown below your top end to incorporate such things and you will be saying “Yes” to the dress in no time.

Bridal Sizes are NOT created equal!

Bridal Sizes are NOT created equal!

When you are planning to shop for your wedding gown, there is something important you should know! Designer sizing varies quite a bit and the majority are MUCH SMALLER than what you are used to everyday. Sample sizes are usually a size 10 which ranges from a 4-6 in street clothes. An inclusive size sample of a 20 can range from a 12-16 in street clothes. In most designers, a size 16 and above will cost more for “Women’s Sizing”. This is shocking but do not feel discouraged. We are here to help you and what size is found on the label, does not define you!

Do some research!

Do some research!

We know that going to hundreds of stores sounds glamorous, but trust us, it isn’t. It is so important to vet the bridal salons you wish to visit! Why go to a store that doesn’t carry a single designer/style that you like? Trying on gowns can be very taxing and confusing. This is supposed to be fun but you still have an important choice to make. Check out different websites for salons and see what they have. Narrow your search to a few stores to stay focused on the ultimate goal of finding THE ONE!

Plan Ahead!

Plan Ahead!

Bridal gowns, especially Couture, will take quite some time to be made. An average time frame, before COVID-19, would take about 4-6 months to come in. These days, we must plan a lot sooner to make room for any shipping struggles. Gowns are now taking 6-7 sometimes 8 months to come in! A bride will always need alterations no matter how many measurements are taken. Please allow yourself 2 months to complete alterations. If that is not doable for your particular timeline, ask your stores if they have options available off the rack.
